This section contains a list of known problems reported via the Unexpected Error screen and the Java Configuration Error screen. Error Description When you start the software a window displays the Unexpected Error listed below. Unexpected Error java.lang.NullPointerException [tCC:fCH:javax.swing.ImageIcon::-1] Error Status Fixed Status Updated 20 May 2005 Products Impacted Home Loan Manager Pro Build 1.1.050421 (and all prior builds) Home Loan Manager Build 1.1.050421 (and all prior builds) Home Credit Card Manager Build 3.0.050420 (and all prior builds) Comments and Recommended Action Windows XP users running Java 1.4.2 may experience the above exception due to a bug in the Sun Java 1.4.2 JFileChooser code. The error happens in approximately 2% of the cases, and restarting the application will normally resolve the issue. Error Description Running one of our software products results in the "loading screen" being displayed briefly before it vanishes and nothing else happens. Alternatively the "loading screen" may be displayed and the loading bar continually loops. If you run the software from the command line (see help topic Running a Java Program from the Command Line for instructions) a large number of error lines will be displayed (see Error Message below). Error Message java.lang.NullPointerException at javax.swing.text.html.CSS$FontSize.getValue(Unknown Source) at javax.swing.text.html.CSS$FontSize.getValue(Unknown Source) at javax.swing.text.html.CSS$FontSize.toStyleConstants(Unknown Source) at javax.swing.text.html.StyleSheet$ViewAttributeSet.getAttribute(Unknown Source) ... ... Error Status Fixed Status Updated 08 August 2006 Products Impacted Home Loan Manager Pro Build 2.1.060801 (and all prior builds) Home Loan Manager Build 2.1.060801 (and all prior builds) Home Credit Card Manager (all builds) Comments and Recommended Action There is a bug in Sun Java 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0-b64) causing the software to crash. This bug has been reported to us on Windows XP, running java version "1.5.0" (build 1.5.0-b64). To fix this problem on your computer: Download the latest version of our software (recommended) Or, Install a newer version of java (build 1.5.0_01 or later) WARNING: If you originally ran this software under Windows from the start menu then the program may still be running in the background and this could lead to a file lock. This will prevent you from uninstalling the software and prevent you from installing a newer version. Please refer to the help topic Problems deleting installed files - "Cannot delete [file]: It is being used by another person or program" for details on how to identify and fix this problem. This bug has been reported to us on Windows XP with a modified Theme, running java version "1.5.0" (build 1.5.0_06) To fix this problem on your computer: Download the latest version of our software (recommended) Operating Systems Impacted Some Windows XP configurations with modified Themes Caused By Bug in Java [ID:6342514] handling of Look and Feel.
