Credit Card Screens

This page provides an overview of the main screens used to enter your loan information into Home Credit Card Manager Lite . Click on the screen name below or scroll down the page for more details on each.

  1. Account Details Screen
  2. Statement Details Screen
  3. Transaction Details Screen

Account Details Screens

The account details screen allows you to maintain your accounts, and contains the following fields:

ACCOUNT DETAILS

Account Name

Identifies the account and is used in the title of all the screens and reports (eg Credit Card Gold).

Provider Name

The name of the company that has issued the account (eg Bank of the World).

Account Type

The type of account.

Enter and Display Balances as

When working with a "Debt" account (eg a Credit Card) you can chose to enter and display the outstanding balances as positive or negative numbers. Normally if you owe money your balance would be a negative number (eg -1,000), however with credit card statements the bank often displays the amount you owe them as a positive number (eg 1,000). This field allows you to change the way you display and enter the balances into the software, and lets you match it to the way your provider lists your balances on your statements.

If you select Positive Numbers then you need to enter a positive value when your statements show you owe money. If you select Negative Numbers then you need to enter a negative value when your statements show you owe money.

Statement Details Screens

The statement details screen allows you to maintain your statements, and contains the following fields:

Start Date

The start date of the statement. This field would normally be set to the start date as it appears on your statement.

Tip - When you first start using Home Credit Card Manager Lite you don't have to start with the oldest statement first. For example, if you have a credit card that is five years old and you want to get started with the statements for the last year, you can create your first statement starting a year ago and add older statements at a later date.

Tip - You should keep the date ranges of your statements in a continuous time line. That is, the start date of one statement should be the end date of the previous statement plus one day. When you create a new statement, Home Credit Card Manager Lite automatically calculates a default start date for you (using the end date of the previous statement).

End Date

The end date of the statement. This field would normally be set to the end date as it appears on your statement.

Reporting Year

The reporting year is used in the Summary reports to group information into yearly totals. Normally you would set it to the same year as the start and end date. If the statement start date and end date are in different years then you can select either year as the value for this field. There are no constraints on the reporting year, except that it must be a number.

Opening Balance

The balance of the account as at the statement start date. This field would normally be set to the opening balance on your statement.

Transaction Details Screen

Tip - If you are adding your transactions by typing them in (instead of importing them) you can use the Add More button to process the current transaction you are working with and automatically display the screen again ready for the next transaction.

The transaction details screen allows you to add and edit your transactions, and contains the following fields:

TRANSACTION DETAILS

Date

The transaction date on the statement.

Description

A meaningful description for the transaction.

To save you having to type in all your transaction descriptions, Home Credit Card Manager Lite will auto-fill the field as you type, based on previous transaction descriptions you have entered for the account.

Category

The category the transaction is to be grouped under in the Summary reports.

Note: You can change the category descriptions by selecting Maintain Categories from the main Category menu (you will need to close the transaction details screen first).

Amount

The amount of the transaction. This field would normally be set to the transaction amount as it appears on your statement.
